Brand new for 2023, Brian’s Custom Sports unleashes their newest iteration of the Optik series with the Brian’s Optik X3 Junior Goalie Leg Pads; designed to take the already beloved Optik line to all new heights!
Starting with the face of the pad; a flat, laceless design that has become a staple of the Optik line returns, along with a redesigned, streamlined outer roll that helps reduce the weight of the pad and improve five hole closure.
The Optik X3 utilizes an 80 degree toe taper found on the FLX model of the higher end pads which is meant for a hybrid goalie who wants more of an S curve to their pad.
The inside edge of the Brian’s Optik X3 will feature the popular Primo sliding edge as seen in other Brian’s models. Primo is designed to give the goaltender a quicker sliding surface while adding durability for long term use.
Around on the back of the leg pad, Brian’s offers a removable outer knee flap so the player can have an open or closed knee cradle based on their preference. A dual option knee strap is paired with the classic Optik 2 style calf wrap system down at the calf. .
Finally at the bottom of the leg channel Brian’s well known and loved Smart Cord strapping at the toe and Smart Boot strap.
If you are an advanced-level goaltender who previously enjoyed the Optik leg pad or is looking for the newest and best offering from Brian’s Custom Sports, look no further than the Brian’s Optik X3 Junior Goalie Leg Pads.
Using a measuring tape, start by measuring the distance from the outside of your ankle bone to the middle front of your knee cap, then take that number and double it for your base number, such as a measurement of 16" indicates 32 in 32+1. Next, the +1 is a standard measurement indicating the additional space above the knee and may vary for each company. If you are still unsure about sizing, the best thing to do is to size up using another pad as reference.
If you are looking for more in-depth advice on selecting hockey pads , please visit Every company has relatively the same sizing but may vary in small incriments due to the build of the pad per company. With changes to the construction and technology of leg pads to match the technique of a modern goaltender, using an older leg pad as reference to identify your size in the current style of leg pad might not be a completely accurate representation when purchasing new gear.
Sizing is provided as a general guideline. Please contact customer service for additional sizing guidance.
