Brand new for 2023, True is proud to introduce the next generation of great goalie sticks, the True Catalyst 5X3 Junior Goalie Stick! The all-new Catalyst 5X3 is a lightweight composite stick built to be more responsive, with a stiffer paddle, increased playability and optimized durability.
Starting at the blade and paddle, the Catalyst 5X3 features True’s Axenic technology, their patented manufacturing process that produces an ultra-consistent one-piece design for optimal balance, control and feel. Also returning on the Catalyst stick is the patent pending Vibration Suppression System (VSS) at the shoulder of the stick, designed to provide the perfect balance of feel and comfort while making stick saves. Finally, a braided 2 rib design throughout the blade and paddle allows for a thinner, lightweight blade with increased durability.
The Catalyst 5X3 features an optimized mid-kick profile with a stiffer paddle and stronger shaft for easier, faster loading times and more powerful clearances.
Up to the shoulder and shaft of the 5X3 True has returned to a square shaft and a standard shoulder shape for a similar geometry to the HZRDUS that proved to be incredibly well-received.
Finally, True’s Performance Advanced Strengthening System (PASS) offers a less ridged blade core that is designed to withstand higher shear forces to resist breakdown over time.

Measurement Guide
Generally, there is no true sizing when it comes to sticks due to the high amount of preference that comes with choosing a size of stick. Factors such as stance, play style, and comfortability come into play when choosing the right stick. For a goalie choosing a stick for the first time, we personally recommend getting a stick relative to the rest of your gear sizes. For example, Senior pads, glove, and blocker goalies should use a Senior stick.
As for the specific number sizing of a stick, this is where the other factors roll in to place so, finding another stick as a reference to feel out the size is the best advice if you truly don't know what size you are. A stick should allow the goaltender to comfortably be in a "ready stance" with the stick flush to the ground between their pads.
